I Just Booked A $33,000 Private Jet Flight, And Here’s What It Taught Me About The Entrepreneurial Mindset

A few months back…

A couple friend of me and Laura’s asked us If we wanted to go with them to a mastermind that’s happening in Cabo in late October.

We said “sure”…

But looking at the flights from Las Vegas to Cabo…

I quickly realized that there weren’t a ton of direct flights…

And none of the flights that were direct were on airlines that I particularly liked.

Boojee, I know…

But my daughter is at an age where traveling with her is pretty exhausting.

She just doesn’t sit still, she isn’t old enough to watch a movie, she wants to explore everywhere, she wants to grab the hair of the woman in the row in front of us, she loves trying to eat stale peanut crumbs from off the floor.

It’s not the end of the world obviously, it’s kind of a parent’s rite-of-passage…

But having now flown with her close to 30 times in the last 18 months (it might even be more than 30)…

I feel like I’m in a pretty legit position to say that it can be a lot.

Quick case in point, we recently flew from Vegas to Florida and back for our wedding, and it was pretty exhausting…

And a funny story about this:

On the flight back she was sitting on my lap and I commented to Laura that her butt was super warm, like a “little furnace.”

Turns out that warm sensation wasn’t our radiant daughter’s butt…

Her diaper had become lodged to the side and she was peeing all over me!

Shockingly enough I didn’t notice until she got off my lap like 10 minutes later…

But needless to say, I spent the final two hours of the flight completely soaked, and not getting out of my seat (#DadLife!).

So anyways the point is…

It’s not like we won’t travel places with our daughter, or that it’s really unbearable, or anything like that…

It’s just that as I was sitting there thinking about this trip to Cabo in late October…

I started dreaming about how cool it would be if we got a Private Jet (PJ) to take us from Vegas to Cabo and back…

That way Eden could run around on the plane and explore…

Without me worrying about her terrorizing all of the other passengers.

If we need to change her diaper, it would be a lot easier too…

And it would be pretty glamorous for us adults too ☺

So I started getting really excited about the idea…

But I also knew that a PJ was going to cost $30k – $40k round trip…

Which, while we’re blessed enough to be able to afford that…

It’s still a lot of money to drop on basically five hours of travel time.

So I was sitting there thinking that yeah, a PJ to Cabo and back sounds amazing…

But it probably wasn’t the best use of our hard-earned money and all of that.

Then I had thus idea/realization/lightbulb moment.

Remember that “couple friend” I mentioned at the beginning?

I’m really good buddies with the guy…

And he also happens to be a great marketer who sells supplements online.

Plus even better…

He has an in-office team that’s got building funnels and launching offers pretty dialed in…

And he has a strong in-house affiliate manager who has lots of good relationships.

It also happens that my buddy had been prodding me to take one of my old dead sales letters…

Do a new lead, polish it up, etc…

And then let his team take it live and get traffic to it…

With the agreement being that we’d split the profits 50/50.

For the first few months my buddy was asking, I’d been half-heartedly saying that I would…

But I wasn’t actually getting to the project, or feeling particularly excited about the project.

But now, it was different.

Now I wanted to fly with my family, and his family, in a PJ to Cabo and back.

I was motivated.

So I told my friend, and our wives, my idea:

  • I’d revamp one of my old offers…
  • My buddy could do the production side and have his team help drive traffic to it…
  • But my caveat was that we take all of the initial profit from the offer…
  • And use it to book the PJ.

My rationale on it was as follows by the way:

“If I just spend $35k on a Private Jet flight I’ll feel like a jackass. But if I create a “new” offer and it generates $35k in profit and pays for the Private Jet trip, then I won’t feel bad at all. I was probably never even going to get around to launching this offer otherwise, so if I do launch it, and it works, that’s basically just found money.”

Everyone thought it was a great idea…

I spent two days reworking the offer…

Then it spent a few weeks in production.

I actually posted about the offer in this group back on June 18th (the post about how a lot of us overcomplicate things)…

And at the time of that post, the offer had been live for less than a week.

Well fast forward just about a month later…

And guess what we did yesterday?

We booked the PJ Flight, roundtrip, using some of the profit from that new offer.

And honestly, we could have booked it a few weeks prior to this…

But we wanted to be ultra conservative and maintain a large reserve for refunds, chargebacks, etc.

Yay us, right?

But this post isn’t about how awesome me and my buddy are…

It’s about Mindset.

Two months ago, I decided I wanted to fly in a private jet with my wife, daughter, and two of our best friends from LV to Cabo, and then back.

Instead of just saying: “yeah but that’s unrealistic” or “you’re a wasteful piece of shit if you do that Stefan,” or whatever other negative self-limiting and self-doubting crap I could have espoused…

I asked a simple question: “how do I make this happen?”

Then I took the resources that I had at my disposal:

  • An old offer that I knew used to be good
  • My abilities as a copywriter
  • My friends infrastructure for pumping out new funnels…

Devised a plan…

Put it into action…

And two months later, PJ Booked.

It’s honestly one of the craziest applications of mindset that I’ve ever applied in my own personal life…

Of just manifesting something “crazy” for myself and my family…

Pretty much out of thin-air…

And it makes me ask myself: “what other crazy things can I manifest next?”

Plus now that the PJ is taken care of, paid for, and we’re all set…

Moving forward, my buddy and I will keep splitting all of the additional profit each month for as long as the offer runs.

We’re still tweaking and optimizing this offer…

It’s honestly not “perfect” and it could be better…

But you better believe we’ll get it there…

And it’ll end up netting us each six, possibly even 7 figures over the next year.

That’s a pretty badass side benefit to taking concrete steps to reach a goal, right?!

And if you’re reading all of this and you’re thinking: “that’s great Stefan but I can barely afford to fly on Spirit Airlines – you’ve got all the connections, the skills, the experience and that’s the real reason why you were able to do this”…

Here’s the deal:

Yes, absolutely I have a pretty high level of connections, skills, and valuable experience at this point in my career…

But you’ve got assets too.

And depending on who you are, and where you are in your career…

Maybe your goal is even more extravagant – like buying some $10MM mansion you saw on Zillow…

Or maybe your goal is much more modest – like have an extra $1,000 to take your family to Disney World next summer.

The funny, but 100% true thing is…

What your actual goal is matters ZERO PERCENT….

What matters is the MINDSET you employ in reaching that goal.

Once you set a goal, once you want something…

Your first response shouldn’t be: “but that’s not realistic”…

It should be: “okay how do I make this happen in the fastest and most efficient way possible?”

Then, allow yourself to get creative…

And the whole time you’re working on reaching your goal…

You need to truly believe that whatever goal you’ve set is attainable…

You need to believe that it’s easy, that it’s going to happen…

You just flat out need to BELIEVE.

It sounds cliché, I know.

But if you don’t believe in yourself, and if you don’t believe that whatever you want is possible…

Well, you’re never going to get it.

Okay this is a long one…

Possibly going to annoy some people…

Sometimes I think that maybe my personal brand is like “the aspirational copywriter” LOL…

But for the right person, when you’re reading this…

I really believe this post contains one of the most valuable lessons you can ever learn in life or business…

So hopefully a portion of you guys feel the same way.
