A few years back when I hired Monique Linder as a personal coach, one of the first things she did was to teach me about Pomodoros.
If you don’t know what Pomodoros are, the concept is super simple:
You pick ONE task that you’re going to focus on…🧐
Then you commit to doing 3-4 sets of Pomodoros to complete the task.
Each “set” lasts for 25 minutes…🕘
And you set a timer at the beginning of the set…
Then work until it goes off.
Once the timer goes off, you take a 3-5 minute break…
Then you reset the timer and go into your next set.
Like I said, pretty simple…
But damn are they effective.
For me personally, I use Pomodoros when I have a task that needs to get done, but I don’t feel like working on it.
I find that Pomodoros help a lot because 25 minutes is really a micro-commitment.
I already set aside time for deep work each day…
But now it’s easier to get started…
Because in my head I’m saying, “Well, it’s just 25 minutes, that’s not so bad.”
What’s even more important about Pomodoros though…
Is that, if done properly, you are focusing intensely on one single task.
So for example, when I use Pomodoros to write copy…
I have all social media closed, all tabs closed, email closed, Slack and Skype closed, and my phone is face down.
This gives me 25 minutes of uninterrupted focus and attention to the task at hand…
And what you quickly find is that you can get a SHOCKING amount done in just 25 minutes…
But only if you’re able to maintain your focus.
So yeah, I love Pomodoros…
And I wanted to share that with you.
Right now I’m about to go do 4 sets while I work on a sales letter for a client…
And I’m excited to see how much progress I’ll make!

P.S. Here’s another thing I’ve been doing lately:
I don’t check Facebook in the morning anymore.
Instead, I haven’t been opening Facebook until around noon at the earliest.
Holy cow has that been a game-changer…
I feel like my reservoirs of attention and energy have expanded dramatically…
And frankly, there’s nothing so urgent or important on FB that it needs my attention at 6:30 am…
As compared to noon.
So this is something you might want to consider trying as well.
